All Quiet on the Western Front - Common Sense Media A powerful read whose writer paints for his reader a portrait of the soul of a young boy and guides you through the ladt years of his life in a war, but along the way you realize that he died long before his body followed him to the grave. Paul is a teenager, a gymnasium (equivalent in the US would be college prep) student, who entered the war at the All Quiet on the Western Front is a brutal, bloody, and frighteningly realistic interpretation of the original 1929 novel. And to make a specifically German film.. The acting is overall very good for the 1930's, though sometimes the actors overact. This movie is insanely good and if you want to have a message so powerful. Still, Berger could have found some way of foretelling the next warand, looking a century ahead, wars to comewithout contorting Pauls death into something other than routine.
